South Magazines Greatest Doctors

Dr. Carl Pearl says that the motivation to open his own practice, Chatham Plastic Surgery, came from the mindset, “Surround yourself with people in whom you believe.” He wants to create a patient experience that is beyond spectacular. Dr. Pearl insists that he has this opportunity to create something special because his patients and the greater Savannah community have believed in him.

He is fortunate to have patients from all over the country and parts of the world that come to seek his expertise, but he acknowledges that it all starts here at home, in Savannah. Dr. Pearl is a fixture in the local community, and that community has helped him build his new practice: Chatham Plastic Surgery.

“We used local builders, local designers, local cabinet makers and local retailers to create something so special so that people will feel like they are in a beautiful place when they come to the practice. We want our patients to feel like they’re at home.”

“When people say, ‘You don’t need Botox and lasers,’ I reply, ‘It is because I have had Botox and lasers,’” laughs Dr. Pearl, “When choosing lasers for the new office, I asked myself, ‘What treatments do I want?’ I also asked, ‘Who do I want firing the lasers and treating me?’” Dr. Pearl continues, “That is why I am excited that aestheticians Michelle Turley and Megan Waltemyer are going to be such a big part of Chatham Plastic Surgery. My nurse and practice administrator Mary Gay is ensuring that every detail is spectacular for our patients. They used to say that James Brown was the hardest working man in show business. Well, she is the hardest working woman in plastic surgery!”

Dr. Pearl explains, “We want our patients to believe in us. We want them to know they are being treated by experts who care about them.” Along the way, Dr. Pearl has had the pleasure to learn from and work with some legends of plastic surgery. During his time in private practice in Savannah as managing partner of the largest plastic surgery group in the area for over a decade, Dr. Pearl welcomed Dr. Harvey Zarem to his practice. Dr. Zarem had been the Professor and Chief of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at UCLA Medical Center and featured on ABC’s Extreme Makeover. Dr. Zarem and Dr. Pearl developed a friendship and working relationship that defined both of their careers. They both thought quite similarly about life and medicine and admired these similarities and commitment to plastic surgery in each other a great deal.

Dr. Pearl is a board-certified plastic surgeon in Savannah, Georgia. He specialized in both aesthetic and reconstructive surgery of the face, breast and body. His passion lies in providing his patients with meaningful results with as little downtime as possible. He understands that each patient is different and has unique expectations.
